French Golden Age Comic Strips: Jordom

Jordom (Jorge Domenech), 1931, Spain

Jorge Domenech studied fine arts in Barcelona, and made his debut in comics and animation at age seventeen. His early work appeared in magazines like Historietas, Mundo Infantile and Florita. In 1957 he moved to Paris, where he started a cooperation with Bonne Presse, signing his work with Jordom. His comics were published in magazines like Rallye Jeunesse (1959-60), Bayard (1961), Bernadette (1962-69), Pistolin and Pilote. For Vaillant he worked with René Goscinny on the series ‘Boniface et Anatole’. In 1959 and 1960 he drew the comic strip ‘Valentin’ in alternation with Raymond Maric for Pépito.
